After years of anticipation, Gotham is finally calling its cast back into action. The Batman Part II has remained one of Hollywood’s most eagerly awaited sequels ever since Matt Reeves delivered his dark, atmospheric take on the Caped Crusader. While fans have endured multiple delays and a lengthy wait for updates, the project is now edging closer to production.
With cameras preparing to roll, it also means Colin Farrell is getting ready to once again disappear beneath the extensive prosthetics that transform him into Gotham crime boss Oz Cobb, better known as the Penguin.
During a conversation with Collider’s Steve Weintraub while promoting the return of his Apple TV+ sci-fi noir drama Sugar, Farrell offered a promising update on the sequel’s progress.
When asked when he expected to return to the makeup chair for Reeves’ next Batman film, the actor revealed that production is set to begin very soon, although his own scenes won’t be filmed right away.
“They start, I think, in a week,” Farrell said before turning the question back to Weintraub and asking, “Is there a plan for you to go over and see?”
After Weintraub jokingly replied that he’d gladly pay someone for access to the set, Farrell continued with a laugh, hinting that the long-awaited sequel is finally moving forward.
Farrell added:
“I don’t have the power to charge such an invitation, but it’ll be an amazing set to be on. The script, I’ve said before, and you know, I said it to you, it’s extraordinary. It really is. Matt is just so brilliant, and he just cares so deeply about the stories he tells. I will go fly to London in four or five weeks. I haven’t got much to do on it, but I’ll go for four or five weeks. I’ll be there for a few weeks. I’m so excited to see it as a fan.”
