Jumong, the founder of Goguryeo in 37 BC, was the son of General Hae Mo Su and Lady Yu Hwa. After Hae Mo Su was presumed killed in an ambush by the Han Dynasty, Jumong and his mother were taken in and raised by King Geum Wa. So Seo No, the daughter of a merchant, played a pivotal role in supporting Jumong’s vision of establishing a new nation and later became his second wife.
